Bordeaux 2020 En Primeur | Château Marquis De Terme

"Tasted three times and was impressed each time" 93 Points, Jane Anson
"Silky, soft and polished" 93-95 Points, Jeff Leve

Beloved by America's third president, Thomas Jefferson, Chateau Marquis de Terme is a little jewel of the Margaux appellation. This historic Chateau was once part of a larger estate, which was subsequently divided into smaller holdings, giving birth to four prized vineyards, including Rauzan Segla and, of course, the superb holdings of Chateau Marquis de Terme.

Since 2013, Marquis de Terme has been experimenting with organic farming, and moved to full certification in 2017. The result of this conversion became apparent with the gorgeous 2018 and 2019 vintage, of which the newly released 2020 is a rightful contender as best vintage ever produced by the estate.

A textbook Margaux, showcasing the aristocratic personality of Cabernet Sauvignon, Chateau Marquis de Terme is amongst those wines capturing our full attention during the Primeurs tasting. A complete, refined and utterly drinkable claret, Marquis de Terme has garnered high praises from wine critics, with Jane Anson awarding her highest score to date (93), reporting on how this sample consistently impressed her palate over her long tasting efforts from barrel. Jeff Leve, of the Wine Cellar Insider's fame, adds on the "silky, soft and polished" personality of this latest creation.
Here, at Wine Source, we simply found a utterly balanced wine, offering plenty of sweet, crunchy black and blue fruit, carrying a sense of completeness and excitement thanks a spicy, piquant finish.

Chateau Marquis de Terme is unquestionably one of the must have in our annual Cellar Collection, and we encourage you to reserve few cases.
Spoiler alert, when bottled in large formats, Marquis de Terme age divinely.

93 Points, Jane Anson, Decanter
"Cassis, bilberry, chocolate, mocha and pepper. Good, austere, tight, mint leaf on the close of play. This has depth of expression, the fruit has been carefully extracted to minimise what are still pretty ferocious tannins. A yield of 30hl/ha. Tasted three times and was impressed each time. Important to note that Marquis de Terme is one of the few Left Bank estates that does a final adjustment to the blend before bottling, although typically changes are only made to the second wine so this is likely to be at least extremely close to what will go into the final bottle. Drinking Window 2028 - 2044"

93-95 Points, Jeff Leve, The Wine Cellar Insider
"A beautiful display of violets, roses, cherry blossoms, espresso, plums, black cherry and cocoa come to the surface with little effort. Silky, soft and polished, medium/full-bodied, with a finish that delivers layer after layer of chocolate covered dark red, plush fruits."

94-95 Points, James Suckling
Blackberry and blackcurrant with some licorice and tar on the nose. It’s medium-to full-bodied with intense yet polished tannins and a long, beautiful finish. The quality of the tannins is an upgrade here.
