The 2011 vintage challenged Bordeaux, but Cos d'Estournel rose to the occasion with this sophisticated Saint-Estèphe that marries power with precision. Aromas of blackberry compote, incense, and crushed violets lead to a palate layered with dark chocolate and exotic spice, all framed by the estate's hallmark mineral grip (WA 94pts, JS 95pts). While approachable now after a 2-hour decant (try with Moroccan-spiced lamb), its vibrant acidity and polished tannins promise a graceful evolution through 2035+. A brilliant example of how great terroir and winemaking can transcend vintage challenges.
